Herbal Classes in Pittsburgh
Our August Make and Take Classes take place in a truly magical and special neighborhood garden- The Herb Garden at Sterrett Middle School has bene tended to and transformed by neighbor Howard Aiken. Come, roll in the pennyroyal paths, oogle the angel’s trumpets blossoms on full moon nights, gaze into the mesmerizing beauty of flowers and herbs with us! We will frolic and talk plants, we’ll taste test and make potions, everyone will go home with a fuller understanding of herbs, different preparations and a heartfelt connection with the plants.
Wednesdays, August 6, 13, 20, 27 from 6:30-8 pm.
Classes are $20 each or $60 for all four if registered in advance.
August 6 Mullein Queens, Hags Tapers and Moving through Grief - We will explore one plant in depth, learning about using mullein to help relax body pain and move through grief, and craft mullein torches with local beeswax for you to bring home.
August 13 Crafting Herbal Vinegars and Oxymels Fuse food and potions in this yummy ACV based class and go home with your new favorite vinaigrette base/bubbly water potion/ just plain yummy medicine.
August 20 Making Herbal Tinctures for Stress Relief Learn how to make simple tinctures, blend tincture formulas and get to know herbal allies for helping stressful feelings. There are so many herbs for stress, you'll go home with a personalized blend of the herbs that will be most helpful to YOU!
August 27 Topical Herbal Applications: oils and soaks- Topical use of herbs can address and soothe inflammation and pain directly as well have less potential side effects. Craft a soaking blend to bring home to use for yourself and loved ones.
